Ambulance teams are on duty around the clock at all WorldSkills Championship sites

(KZN.RU, August 22, Ksenia Shvetsova). All participants and guests of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 can count on timely and qualitative medical care. Ambulance crews are on duty around the clock in the places of residence and gathering of guests, as well as at the main facilities. 8 medical centers are organized on the territory of the exhibition center “Kazan Expo”, 10 medical posts at the stadium “Kazan Arena”.

All championship facilities are licensed to provide medical care. 120 people are involved in the medical support of the facilities, excluding ambulance crews, Ildar Fatikhov, the deputy minister of Health of the RT, said today at a press conference in the news agency “Tatar-inform”. Almost all health workers previously worked at other large-scale events such as the Universiade, the World Cup, and others.

“Each health worker trained in the treatment of infectious diseases, emergency care, and assistance in industrial injuries”, said I. Fatikhov. The building of the exhibition center is divided into separate blocks, each has its own medical center. In total, 8 first-aid posts have been created on the territory of the center and an additional 8 ambulance crews are on duty.

“There are pre-approved routes so that in case of an accident, doctors know which door is best to go through, how to quickly remove the victim from the complex”, said I. Fatikhov. “Transportation will be carried out to the nearest medical facility, the Republican Clinical Hospital, where the team can reach in 10 minutes”.

All sites where competitions will be held for various competencies are equipped with first-aid kits. The sites where the participants of the championship will compete in traumatic competencies will be provided with additional medical equipment: anti-burn sets and special devices for removing splinters.

72 medical volunteers are planned in each competency, they are students of medical schools. In total, 183 volunteers and an additional 50 volunteers from Kazan Medical University are participating in the medical supply direction. 11 students are foreign.

The organizers approached the issues of providing medical assistance to participants and guests of the opening and closing ceremonies of the championship no less carefully. At the stadium “Kazan Arena”, 10 medical posts have been opened, 11 ambulance teams and 15 mobile medical teams are on duty. Like the “Kazan Expo”, the stadium is divided into separate zones, each has a separate team of medical workers. “Each team oversees the perimeter of its territory and will be able to provide assistance or take the injured to the hospital as soon as possible”, added the speaker.

Since August 1, around-the-clock work of a medical center in the village of WorldSkills has been organized to provide assistance to accredited people, where doctors and nurses of the clinic №21 and an ambulance team are on duty.

“Almost all major medical facilities are involved in providing medical care”, explained I. Fatikhov. “For the provision of inpatient medical care, the Republican Clinical Hospital, Hospital №7, and CRCH have been identified. If necessary, assistance will be provided at the ICDC, the infectious diseases hospital, and the ophthalmological and dental hospitals”.

45 placements are prepared for the accommodation of guests and delegations from other cities and countries in Kazan. They also have ambulance teams on duty around the clock.

An operational headquarters has been created under the Ministry of Health of the RT, which controls the work of all medical institutions.

For tofday, 600 people have been registered for medical assistance from people involved in WorldSkills Kazan 2019 due to various diseases and injuries.

“It is impossible to exclude traumatic situations. The championship is a collection of mini-shops of all existing manufacturing enterprises, from milling machines to baking”, said Dmitry Lopushov, the chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health of the RT for immunization and the head doctor of the competition. “But nevertheless, contestants who showed special skill, including in observing safety precautions, take part in the competitions. As we can see in the examples of previous years, there were no severe cases of injuries; mainly there were cuts and splinters”.

The 45th WorldSkills Championship will be held in Kazan from 22 to 27 of August. 1360 contestants from 63 countries will take part in it. Their competitions in 56 competencies will be evaluated by 1294 experts.
