Monuments to heroes Maguba Syrtlanova and Ryafagat Khabibullin were unveiled today in Kazan at two schools. The even is dedicated to the Heroes of the Fatherland Day, reports the Department of Culture of the Executive Committee of Kazan.
A renewed monument of the Hero of the Soviet Union Maguba Syrtlanova was opened in the yard of school No.52 of the Privolzhsky district. It was donated to the city by the Kazan businessman Alexey Demidov and the serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Yunus Rakhmatullin from Krasnodar.
Maguba Syrtlanova was a Senior Lieutenant, deputy squadron commander of the 46th Taman Women's Aviation Regiment of Night Bombers. Since December 1942, she was on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, participated in the defense of the North Caucasus, the breakthrough of the Blue Line on the Taman Peninsula, the liberation of Novorossiysk and Sevastopol, in battles on the territory of Belarus, Poland, East Prussia, in the Berlin offensive operation. She made 782 combat missions.
A monument to the Hero of Russia Ryafagat Khabibullin was unveiled at school No.115 in the Aviastroitelny district. It was also donated to the city by Kazan businessman Alexey Demidov and entrepreneur from Krasnodar Valit Rakhmatullin.
Ryafagat Khabibullin – Hero of the Russian Federation, Russian military pilot, commander of the 55th separate helicopter regiment, colonel. He died on July 8, 2016 during Russia's military operation in Syria. He has made more than 2,000 combat missions.
Public figures and activists of patriotic organizations, schoolchildren and representatives of the leadership of the republic of Tatarstan and Kazan participated in the opening ceremonies of the monuments.
