<p> For the first time in the history of Tatarstan, the Unit team from Kazan won the Leather Ball tournament. The players won all the matches at all stages of the All-Russian competitions. The superfinal was held in Volgograd, Chairman of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports Albert Salikhov said at the Business Monday meeting in the Executive Committee of the capital of Tatarstan. </p> <p> “This is a great result, congratulations to the guys! I am sure that the achievements of our young athletes will encourage schoolchildren to choose sports and a healthy lifestyle,”- said Rustem Gafarov, the head of the Executive Committee. </p> <p> This year, more than 4 thousand children took part in the city stage of the Leather Ball tournament. Kazan players won at all three age groups of the republican stage. At the national level, Tatarstan was represented by the teams KAI-Olymp, Tasma and Unit. “The performance of the teams was different. If the youngest team KAI-Olymp failed to enter the top three winners, and the team Tasma unfortunately lost in the final of the tournament, losing in the match only in a penalty shootout, then the players of the Unit team reached the superfinal of the tournament without losing a single game,”- said the chairman of the Committee of Physical Culture and sports. </p> <p> Teams from the Krasnodar Territory, Leningrad and Novosibirsk regions competed for the title of champion of the Leather Ball tournament in 2022 as well. A.Salikhov noted that the Unit team won one victory in the group stage, two more matches ended in a draw. </p> <p> According to the results of the tournament, Mikhail Shatov from Kazan became the top scorer, and Emil Gainullin was recognized as the best player. In just ten matches of the All-Russian and superfinal stages, the Unit team lost 6 goals and scored 34 goals. </p>
