The 138th anniversary of Gabdulla Tukai to be celebrated in Kazan

About a thousand activities dedicated to the memory of the Tatar poet will take place in the capital of Tatarstan

April 26 will mark the 138th anniversary of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai. Traditionally, on the eve of this date and the Mother Language Day, a series of thematic events will be held in Kazan. This was announced at the Business Monday meeting by Deputy head of the executive committee of the city Guzel Sagitova.

“The number of participants in urban projects dedicated to the preservation of the Tatar language is growing every year. I am glad that there are more and more young Kazan residents among them. The events are held informally and attract many people. And more and more creative things appear in these projects,”- said Mayor Ilsur Metshin.

On April 15, the next seminar under “Effective methods of language teaching” for teachers of the Tatar language and literature is scheduled. Alexey Arzamasov, Professor of the Institute of Russian Language of the RUDN University, will speak at the seminar.

On April 16 and 17, the Gaidar Youth Center will host the annual festival of Tatar national culture.

On April 26, a solemn flower laying ceremony will be held at the monument to Gabdulla Tukai on Pushkin Street. The Opera and Ballet Theater will host a poetry festival.

On the same day, “The Universe of apush” show based on the biography and motives of the poet's works will take place in the S.Said-Galiev Recreation Center.

On April 28, a concert program with elements of a lecture hall from the Aidar Niyazov orchestra “Soloists of Kazan” will take place at the Moskovsky Cultural Center

Also, the interlibrary festival “Kazan Evenings” will be held on April 23 - 28. These days, the city libraries will hold quizzes, exhibitions and literary hours for visitors.
