Kazan has a branded halal cake

The cake “Kazan” weighing 1 kg 800 g will go on sale to the world championship WorldSkills.

(KZN.RU, May 22, Ksenia Shvetsova). A new gastronomic symbol has appeared in the capital of Tatarstan: the halal cake “Kazan”, decorated with the city's identity. The recipe of the cake is restored of the cake with the same name, developed about 50 years ago. It includes all the most delicious ingredients of sweet Tatar cuisine: chak-chak, kyrt, dried fruits. A treat weighing 1 kg of 800 g will be on sale for the world championship WorldSkills Kazan 2019, said Nikolai Velesov, the co-founder of the guild of Tatarstan chefs, during the presentation of the official identity of Kazan. It took place today in one of the restaurants in the city.

Creating a personalized cake for the capital of Tatarstan is an important step since almost every European capital has its own sweet symbol, said N. Velesov. He cited the well-known treats as an example: Berlin cookies, Prague cake, Kiev cake, Tula gingerbread, and other authentic sweets.

“They tried to create such a cake 50 years ago; then it consisted of shortbread with light curd cream and dried fruits”, added N. Velesov. “We replaced the shortbread biscuits with almond biscuit and added national sweets: a layer of chak-chak, kyrt, which is used in Gubadiya, dried fruits apricots, prunes, and combined it all into one cake”, told the chef.

100 g of cake contains about 500 kilocalories. Only natural products are used in cooking it, said the chef. Now the Kazan cake is undergoing mandatory certification, including the Halal Standard Committee and the Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the RT. In order to get the mark of conformity “Halal”, it is necessary that no artificial components, dyes and additives are used in the product. A delicacy is harmless to health, added N. Velesov. A small shelf life (only 72 hours) proves the naturalness of all the ingredients of the cake.

“We addressed the city’s oldest confectionery industry, the confectionery shop “Lakomka”, which has existed since 1939. Theit capacities allow producing up to three tons of cake per day”, said the speaker. In addition, “Lakomka” is ready to ensure the delivery of cakes to catering establishments.

The cake “Kazan” will appear on sale to the final stage of the world championship WorldSkills, which will be held in the capital of Tatarstan in August. You can buy it in the confectionery “Lakomka”, restaurants and retail networks of the city. The cost of a cake weighing 1 kg 800 g will be about 1 thousand rubles. In addition, it is planned to sell cakes and mini-cookies “Kazan”, made according to the recipe of the cake.
