The memory of Gabdulla Tukay was honored in Kazan

The President of the RT and the Mayor of Kazan laid flowers at the monument to the poet.

(KZN.RU, April 26). The traditional action of laying flowers at the monument of Gabdulla Tukay was held today in the center of Kazan. The memory of the great Tatar poet was honored by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and others.

The Mother Language Day is celebrated every year on April 26, on the birthday of the poet. Kazan citizens came to the monument in the Tukay Square on Pushkin Street with red carnations, which were placed in honor at the monument. The event was also attended by Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council of the RT, Asgat Safarov, the head of the Presidential Administration of the RT, Rafis Burganov, the Minister of Education and Science of the RT, cultural figures, concerned citizens and schoolchildren.

Today, within the framework of the celebration of the Mother Language Day, the opening of the building of the Kazan Tatar Theater of the Young Spectator named after G. Kariev is planned. A gala concert and presentation of the State Award of the RT named after G. Tukay at the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater M. Jalil and the festival of poetry on Teatralnaya Street will be held as well, reports the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the RT.
