Batyrs won in competitions at Lebyazhie Lake and Derbyshki

More than 108 thousand persons visited the festive places in Kirovsky and Sovetsky districts.

(KZN.RU, June 23). The main national Tatar holiday Sabantuy was celebrated in Kazan. Traditionally, one of the main sites of the festival was the Berezovaya Roscha in Mirny, where a large-scale theatrical performance took place on the stage. The guests of the holiday acquainted with the culture of different nations living in the republic, taste Tatar cuisine, take part in contests, games and sporting events, as well as see a concert of Tatar pop stars. Kazan citizens could buy various treats, souvenirs and much more in fair tents. Self-employed entrepreneurs were able to sell their products at the festive site.

An important part of Sabantuy was sports. The children competed in the relay, jumped in bags and participated in other traditional contests. Adults showed their skills in Koresh. The strongest batyr traditionally received a ram as a gift. More than 108 thousand persons visited the festive places in Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts.

Concert of Salavat and theatrical performance “Kazan Solgese”

The national festive event was held for the first time on the Maidan of the Berezovaya Roscha in Derbyshki after a five-year break. Today more than 55 thousand people visited Sabantuy. Guests enjoyed watching the Tatar national dances and tasting the traditional dish – chak-chak. The event was visited Alexey Pesoshin, the prime minister of the RT, and Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee.

A theatrical performance “Kazan Solgese” (Tat. “Kazan towel”) will be staged for Kazan citizens and guests of the capital. Original bands, soloists and choreographic ensembles of the city will take part in it. The headliner of the holiday in Derbyshki will be Salavat Fatkhutdinov, the People’s Artist of the RT and Honored Artist of Russia, and Tatar pop stars Salavat Minnekhanov and Guzelem. More than 600 actors took part in the festive performance. After that Alexey Pesoshin on behalf of Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, greeted the citizens and the guests.

“Traditionally holiday the festive Maidan unites the representatives of different nationalities and religion, accesses never-before-seen talents and declares the best batyrs. Sabantuy was held in all cities and settlements of our republic. The festival takes place in 56 Russian cities and 29 countries of the Middle and Far foreign countries, - the Premier of the RT said. - This event is a good reason to thank those who tackle important issues of enhancing the country's food security and the competitiveness of domestic producers“.

Roman Fathutdinov, the head of the Sovetsky district’s administration, noted that over the centuries Sabantuy has been the long-awaited and joyful event. Guests of the holiday tried their hand at national games and watched the competitions of the best batyrs of Tatarstan in the national fight Koresh. Absolute champions of the tournament Fahrat Faizullin received the main prize: a ram and a car.

Sabantuy museum and WorldSkills zone

Continuing the great tradition of Sabantuy, it was decided to surprise the guests by something new this year and hold the festival at Lebyazhie Lake. More than 53 thousand citizens and guests visited this place.

For example, the Sabantuy museum was organized in the open air which was created by the residents of Kazan. The main exhibits of the museum were plough and embroidered towels. Since ancient times the girls embroidered towels for the festive event which presented to the Sabantuy winner.

On the main stage in the forest of the Lebyazhie Lake, well-known artists of the Tatar stage will perform for the guests of the festival: Zainab Farkhetdinova, Alsu Fazlyeva and Azat Fazlyev, Rayaz Fasikhov, and others. In addition to the concert program and traditional competitions at this site, a separate zone dedicated to the world championship WorldSkills Kazan 2019 is prepared. The young professionals will demonstrate their skills in various championship competencies.

Yuri Kamaltynov, the deputy chairman of the State Council of the RT, Ildar Gilmutdinov, the deputy of the State Duma of the RF, Sergey Mironov, the head of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts’ administration, also attended the festive event.

Everyone was able to participate in the traditional contests, for example, in Koresh. The strongest batyr Mussa Gallyamov from Yoshkar Ola, representing Tyulyachinsk region of the RT, traditionally received the main prizes – a ram and a car. Mussa is 27 years old, he has been engaged in this kind of sport since he was 15. It is worth noting the fact that this is the third car which he has received for the victory in competitions on the national holiday, at the same time Mussa has participated for the first time in the Kazan festive competition. “This year I decided to try my skills in the Sabantuy competition. In Kazan the athletes were better prepared and experienced,” - the winner told.

This year, Sabantuy in Kazan is celebrated at several sites: Mirny, “Berezovaya Roscha” in Derbyshki and in at Lebyazhie Lake. Sabantuy will end with an equestrian holiday and horse racing at the Kazan Hippodrome.
