In winter, the streets of Kazan will be cleaned by more than 800 special cleaning vehicles

The enterprises have begun to repair the fleet and purchase reagents

In the coming winter, 612 special vehicles will be used for snow cleaning in Kazan, and in case of heavy snowfalls, an additional 150-200 vehicles will be brought in. By the next winter, 21 new vehicles, including graders, tractors, and loaders, have been purchased for the city. However, there is still a shortage of drivers for contractors and maintenance workers. This was discussed during a meeting on winter preparations held by the head of the Kazan Executive Committee, Rustem Gafarov.

Four contracting organizations have been identified for cleaning roads in Kazan during winter. They have begun preparations for the season, repairing existing equipment, purchasing spare parts, and reagents. According to the chairman of the External Improvement Committee, Igor Salakhutdinov, the city's fleet of winter equipment consists of 612 vehicles, including snow loaders, small harvesting machines, rotary snowplows, and various road vehicles.

This year, 21 additional specialized vehicles (graders, tractors, and loaders) have been purchased by the State Unitary Enterprise of Tatarstan “Tatleasing” and discussions are underway to purchase more vehicles. During heavy rainfall, it is also planned to rent additional equipment from third-party organizations, ranging from 150 to 200 vehicles.

Snow disposal, as in the previous year, will take place at eight snow melting points operated by the Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Vodokanal”. These points are equipped with 14 receiving chambers, with a total design capacity of 8,000 tons per day for all facilities. Each chamber has a capacity of 574 tons per day to melt snow.

There will also be a snow storage area on Tetsevskaya Street, with an area exceeding 12,000 square meters. Additional storage sites will be organized in different areas in case of emergencies.

An important aspect of the preparation process is the procurement of reagents and sand-salt mixtures for anti-icing treatment of roads. Currently, the enterprises have 6,800 tons of available reagent, but additional purchases are needed. Regarding the sand-salt mixture, more than 70 thousand tons will be produced.

The shortage of employees continues to be a significant issue, as Igor Salakhutdinov explained. At municipal enterprises, there is a minimum requirement of 570 drivers, including those working through subcontractors. For full-fledged operations in two shifts, 654 additional workers are needed.

The issue of staffing shortages is also significant in management companies, according to Deputy Head of the Executive Committee, Iskander Giniyatullin. These organizations currently employ approximately 1,500 maintenance workers, but to ensure effective snow removal during heavy snowfall, an additional 500 people are needed.

At the same time, management companies have access to a sufficient fleet of specialized equipment - 191 vehicles - which is enough to maintain roads under normal weather conditions. However, during heavy snowfalls, organizations plan to rent additional equipment, following last winter's experience, when they rented 100 additional dump trucks, loaders, and snowplows to clear yards.

Iskander Giniyatullin commented on the issue of cleaning pitched roofs. There are 2,735 residential buildings in Kazan with such roofs, and management companies must ensure timely removal of snow, ice, and icicles.
