Winter in the parks of Kazan: Soviet New Year, festival of snowmen, street theater and a competition of home-made sledges

On the New Year's holidays the city will hold festive events at the public spaces for the residents and guests.

During the New Year holidays Kazan residents and guests will enjoy a rich cultural program in parks and squares. Everyone will have an opportunity to take part in the festival of snowmen, a contest of homemade sledges and street theatrical performances. The head of the Department of culture Azat Abzalov told about the program “Winter in parks” today at a Business Monday.

Outdoor activities: from New Year's carnival to curling lessons

On December 20, the long-awaited opening of the rink will take place at the “Blake Lake” park. Free curling and figure skating classes are available during the New Year’s holidays.

One of the most colorful events of the New Year’s program in the parks will be street performances of the Moscow theater “High brothers”. And on January 1, in the Park “Krulya Sovetov” will be held a New Year's carnival-an annual concert that will create the atmosphere of the Soviet New Year celebration in its best traditions. Kazan residents will enjoy dances, music from their favorite movies and thematic photo zone.

On January 4, at the boulevard “White flowers” music lovers will join a concert of new Tatar music.

The annual competition “Sledges of Kazan” will be held on January 4 at the Gorky Park. The main prize will be 50 thousand rubles. To get the prize, it is necessary to create an unusual shaped sledge, register a team online in social networks and present the project – to roll down the hill on a homemade sledge on the day of the event.

On January 6, the park named after Uritsky will host a festival of snowmen.

For fans of outdoor activities in the city will work special areas for mass skating, illuminated skiing run and more than 70 hockey rinks.

Children performances will be held in theaters and houses of culture

The New Year's program is being prepared in the schools, houses of culture, youth and teenage clubs, where festive events will also be held, A.Abzalov said.

On the eve of the holidays, on December 25, thousands of gifted schoolchildren are invited to the Ice Palace “Tatneft-Arena”, where the Republican New Year’s celebration will be held with the participation of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.

On December 26, gifted children from a deprived background will visit the performance “Overslept beauty” at the Kazan city Hall.
