During the restoration of the Walk of Fame, the main thing was to preserve the historical significance of the monument.
(KZN.RU, April 26, Alina Berezhnaya). The updated Walk of Fame in the village of Yudino will open on the Victory Day. The creative team at the Kazan City Hall did the restoration work. Footpaths, benches and a monument to the fallen heroes of the Great Patriotic War have been updated on the territory of the memorial complex of the Great Patriotic War.
The memorial complex on Berezovaya Street is a place where the residents come every year on Victory Day to pay tribute to the bright memory of the fellow countrymen who fell at the war fronts.
The central figure of the complex is Yan Yudin, the commander of the left-bank group of the Red Army. There are four bas-reliefs on each side that reflect the heroic path of the Yudin people during the Great Patriotic War.
Daria Tolovenkova, the deputy chief architect of Kazan, said that during the restoration, the main thing was to preserve the historical significance of the monument. All the works were coordinated with Raisa Shikova, the sculptor of the memorial complex. “We wanted to make the territory more comfortable, while not destroying the original concept of the outstanding architects. We renewed the marble surface, made the lining and repaired the concrete base. A metal shield was restored in the central zone of the monument, and a range of works on the restoration of high reliefs and clearing marble surfaces was carried out”, noted D. Tolovenkova. She added that the renovated Alley of Fame should immerse the villagers in a special atmosphere of solitude and nostalgia.
Thus, the memorial complex now has stands with letters from the front. Each of them keeps its history, permeated with longing, love, and hope for the future and stories about life in the rear and on the front lines. The creative team at the Kazan City Hall studied the archival materials of the Museum of Railway Workers to implement this idea.
Footpaths are also updated in the complex for the convenience of the citizens, and the planted pine trees and mountain ash create a cozy atmosphere.
Residents of the settlement are already walking along the renovated alley, for many of them, this place is a landmark. “The name of my great-grandfather, Peter Yakovlev, is engraved on the wall of memory here. Every May 9, children and I come to the Eternal Flame to honor the memory of our relative and other Soviet hero soldiers. The territory of the complex has become more comfortable, now I want to come here not only on Victory Day, but also just to take a walk”, said Aliya Khaidarova, a resident of Yudino.
