More than 10,900 children were born
In the six months of 2023, 5,800 couples were married in Kazan. Such data was presented at the coordinating council on interethnic and interfaith relations, the working group on the prevention of offenses among foreign citizens and the municipal commission for the implementation of legislation on the languages of Tatarstan. The meeting was headed by the Deputy head of the Executive Committee of Kazan Guzel Sagitova.
“Statistics show that the number of interethnic marriages in Russia, including Kazan, is increasing. Now the nationality status in the documents when registering a marriage is not mandatory, however, about 30% of marriages in Kazan are interethnic,”- said Elena Studenikina, acting head of the Registry Office of Kazan.
Now, there are more registrations of marriages between representatives of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and far abroad (Algeria, Syria, Egypt, Iraq).
According to Elena Studenikina, more than 10,900 children were born in Kazan in 2023, of which 4,700 are the first children in families. 5,700 boys and 5,200 girls were born. The fourth and more child in the family were 632 babies.
Traditionally, on the Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness, citizens are awarded medals “For Love and Faithfulness”. This year, 11 married couples were awarded, whose photos were posted on billboards in all districts of the city.
