The epidemiological situation in Kazan and Tatarstan remains difficult. 2,151 beds are deployed in temporary infectious diseases hospitals in the city, while currently the share of available beds is about 7%.
“Over this week, the number of visits to hospitals has remained at the level of last week. Nevertheless, the figures indicate a severe burden on the healthcare system of Kazan,”- said V.Zhavoronkov.
The head of the Health Department said that this week an additional 60 beds to be deployed in one of the medical facilities of the city. “Now work is underway to provide oxygen to the hospital, they will be completed in the near future –V.Zhavoronkov noted. - This facility will serve for the residents of downtown and Azino district”.
80 mobile teams and almost 50 vaccination centers: vaccination of Kazan residents against COVID-19
48.6% of the adult population has been vaccinated in Kazan, 48 vaccination centers are operating in the city.
At least three mobile teams have been formed in each polyclinic, working daily at the enterprises of the city. In total, about 75-80 such teams were formed in Kazan, V. Zhavoronkov said. “99% of those in hospitals preferred to be vaccinated if they knew how seriously they could get ill”
Despite the increasing number of vaccinated people in the city, the low number of vaccinated among the older generation is of concern to doctors. According to V. Zhavoronkov, 101,399 people over 60 have been vaccinated in Kazan – this is only 39% of the number of residents of this age category.
For elderly citizens, vaccination is the only way to avoid advanced stages of the illness and deaths that are more common in the older generation, and to reduce the risk of disease, the speaker noted.
“During visits to red zones, my colleagues and I communicate with patients. I ask them: “If you knew that you could get ill, would you be vaccinated? 99% of those who are in hospitals answer that they would be vaccinated if they knew how hard it would be for them”, - said V.Zhavoronkov.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, instructed to continue providing all the necessary conditions for citizens to be vaccinated against coronavirus. “There are very few people who neglect vaccination now. The growth rate of vaccinated people is encouraging – I.Metshin added. - Let's hope that we will not only continue at this rate, but will do everything to increase it and get herd immunity by December".
