Almost 90 volunteers took part in the award ceremony.
Today in the capital of Tatarstan, volunteers of the Road of life campaign of the Yardam National Islamic charity Fund were awarded. Almost 90 volunteers received letters of gratitude from Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
The Road of life campaign started on April 1. Volunteers daily delivered lunch boxes with hot meals to about 2 thousand needy citizens – people with disabilities, lonely elderly and poor people. Also, volunteers delivered medicines to them if necessary.
In total, 74412 people were got meals during the period from April 1 to May 23, including 62172 people during the month of Ramadan, from April 24 to May 23.
Sergei Mironov, the head of the administration of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts, thanked the volunteers for their work at the awarding ceremony, on behalf of the Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, He noted that thanks to them, during a tense period for the entire country, people in need received attention and support. “Perhaps this project saved someone's life, gave hope for a future, showed how support and mutual assistance work”, - S.Mironov addressed the volunteers.
It should be noted that not only volunteers of the Yardam Foundation participated in the Road of life campaign, but also concerned citizens of the city joined the project.
The Road of life campaign continues in Kazan. Volunteers deliver food packages to low-income families, deliver ready-made food to bedridden patients and those who are not able to prepare food on their own. The project also provides food distribution to homeless people.
