Single cases of measles and pertussis have also been diagnosed
In Tatarstan, during the week, 15,827 cases of acute respiratory viral infections and flu were registered, which is an increase of 10% compared to the previous week. The epidemic season of acute viral respiratory infections is still ongoing. This information was announced at a press conference held by Lyubov Avdonina, deputy head of the Rospotrebnadzor (Russia State Agency for Health and Consumer Rights) department for Tatarstan.
While the number of cases is lower than last year's figures for the same period and below the epidemic threshold by 36.5%. «The situation is typical for this season and weather conditions. There is no cause for concern at present», – Lyubov Avdonina emphasized.
She reported that the current COVID-19 situation is stable. During the past week, doctors reported 136 new cases of the coronavirus infection. «The incidence is nearly three times lower compared to the same period of 2024. Nowadays, COVID-19 is acute respiratory viral infection, and only up to 3% of cases are severe», – L.Avdonina said.
Dmitry Lopushov, the chief epidemiologist of Tatarstan, emphasized that the number of emergency calls due to flu and SARS is negligible: «The situation with COVID-19 remains stable, with only a few severe cases». Today, nine medical organizations are accepting such patients, and only about 35% of the available 92 hospital beds are occupied.
Lyubov Avdonina also provided data on the number of cases of whooping cough in January – only 10 cases were recorded, compared to 362 cases in the same month last year. Only two cases of measles have been identified since the beginning of the year. This improvement in indicators has been achieved thanks to preventive measures, such as vaccination.
