Number of water accidents has decreased in Tatarstan

<p> (KZN.RU, July 24, Alina Berezhnaya). From the beginning of the year in the republic 42 accidents were registered in water bodies, as a result of which 31 people died, 33 people were rescued, including 2 children. The number of deaths has decreased by 27 people as compared with similar period of the last year. Today Yury Venediktov, the Chief State Inspector of RT on Small Craft, announced this at the press-conference in the IA «Tatar-inform». </p> <p> Because of the swimming in non-equipped places 16 people died – it is almost a half of all deaths on water objects, as Y.Venediktov noted and also reminded that in the republic 31 beaches and 20 places of rest are equipped with rescue teams. Besides, there are 225 places of rest where patrol teams regularly work. </p> <p> «Often the population ignores warning notices. I will give an example: there is an equipped beach «Lokomotiv» in Kazan, but people prefer swimming next to the danger of the small crafts, the anchors, and underwater obstacles. They can’t swim here, but people don’t understand this», - Y.Venediktov complained. </p> <p> Along with the adults, the children do drown in the river as well – 4 children have drowned this year. According to Yury Venediktov, the main cause of children’s death is a lack of parent’s control. </p> <p> Speaking of the safety regulations, the speaker noted that this year because of the uncertain weather water temperature goes lower than 20 degrees which could lead to spasms. Water temperature for swimming must be 22 degrees above zero. </p>
