17.8 thousand graduates in Tatarstan will take USE

The tasks of USE in Russian, social studies, history, and foreign language have undergone changes this year.

(KZN.RU, March 5, Alena Miroshnichenko). The early period of the Unified State Exam starts on March 25in Tatarstan and its capital. Graduates will be able to pass the final attestation in exam acceptance points at schools №62 in Kazan and №6 in Naberezhnye Chelny. The main wave of the Unified State Examination will be held fr om May 27 to July 1. 83 points will be involved in the republic, wh ere 16 329 graduates will pass exams. Rafis Burganov, the deputy prime minister of the RT and the minister of Education and Science of the RT, spoke at the briefing today in the Cabinet of Ministers of the RT.

“In 2019, final certification in grades 11 and 9 is carried out in accordance with the new regulations and legal acts of the Ministry of Education of the RF and Rosobrnadzor. As of March 1, 17816 participants were registered for passing the state final attestation of secondary general education programs in 2019”, said R. Burganov. The admission to the exams is given to graduates who don’t have academic debts, including for the final essay (presentation), don’t have annual grades in all academic subjects below satisfactory. The graduate had to submit a corresponding application before February 1, 2019, to participate in the attestation.

This year, the Unified State Exam assignments on Russian, social studies, history, and foreign language have undergone changes. In order for schoolchildren not to memorize essay patterns, a new task was included in the Russian exam. Graduates will be tested for functional, “semantic” reading. In social science, the wording of the tasks have been improved and the system of mini-essay evaluation now excludes the use of “homework”. Additional instructions for the performance of tasks have been introduced in the history exam. A second alternative topic of essay-discourse “My opinion” has been introduced in a foreign language exam. In addition, the order of taking the exam in mathematics has changed this year. Now the student can choose only one level: basic or advanced. In the case of a retake, he will have the opportunity to change the profile. Graduates of past years will be able to pass only the advanced level, as they already have a document on secondary general education.

Graduates will be able to pass the final attestation in early, main and additional periods. A unified schedule is available on the official information portal of the USE and on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RT. The early exam period will be from March 25 to April 10. “Usually, the majority of those who pass the USE in advance are graduates of past years, as well as graduates of secondary vocational education organizations. In addition, graduates of schools who, during the main period of the Unified State Examination, will be absent for valid reasons or intend to continue their education abroad, can pass exams early. 738 participants will pass the examinations in 14 general subjects in advance”, said R. Burganov.

83 examination point will be involved in the republic in the main period of the SFA for 11-graders from May 27 to July 1. Those who could not pass the USE on time for a good reason during this period or chose ones on the same date will be able to use the reserve days from June 17. Every year, the last day of the main period of the Unified State Examination will be a “single reserve”. On July 1, they can take the exam in any subject. In addition, participants of the SFA can use reserve days and retake exams. Those who have not received the minimum number of points in elective subjects will be able to retake the USE only in a year.

“In 2019, 16329 graduates will take part in the state final certification of graduates in the main period”, said the speaker. He added that social science always remains the leader among the subjects of choice, the subjects of natural science remain second: physics, chemistry, biology. The number of graduates taking chemistry, English, computer science and ICT, geography and German has increased.

Special attention of journalists at the briefing was drawn on how the result of the exam for obtaining a certificate with honors affects. In addition to the final excellent marks in all academic subjects of secondary education, the graduate must score at least 70 points for the USE in Russian and math at the advanced level or 5 points in the USE in math at the base level. Otherwise, the student loses the gold medal and the certificate of honor.

As for exams in the 9th grade, this year, schoolchildren completed the final interview in Russian for the first time. In total, SFA consists of examinations in Russian and math and two subjects of choice. The early stage will be held from April 22 to May 14, the main one – from May 24 to June 2. On the reserve days from June 25 to July 2, 9-graders can retake BSE if received no more than two unsatisfactory results, and also missed or did not complete the exam for a good reason.

More than 36 thousand students will take obligatory subjects for BSE. Computer science and ICT are the most popular choice exams among schoolchildren for the first time, social studies are in second place, and geography is still third.

Natalia Grechannikova, the deputy minister of Education and Science of the RT and the head of the Department of Supervision and Control in Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RT, said that all examination points will be equipped with video surveillance and metal detectors. It will be possible to observe the process of passing the USE online. Offline video surveillance will be organized on BSE. In this case, the records will be available for viewing until March 1 of the next year.

N. Grechannikova highlighted the attempt to carry gadgets or informational materials among the main violations of the SFA. “If a student was seen with one of these subjects, he is being removed from the exam, and his work is being canceled. He can only rewrite it after a year”, she warns. Moreover, penalties and administrative liability are also provided for employees of the examination points who did not notice the violation.

R. Burganov assured that exam points in almost all municipalities of the republic are ready for the certification campaign.
