The International Mathematical Center in Kazan serves as a tool for strengthening the superiority of the national mathematical school, said Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, during the ceremony of announcing the President's message to the Federal Assembly. The event was held today in the Central Exhibition Hall “Manezh” in Moscow. </p> <p> </p> <p> “It is necessary to consolidate the superiority of the national mathematical school. This is a strong competitive advantage in the era of the digital economy. International mathematical centers will become sites for such work. Today they are already operating in Kazan and Novosibirsk”, said the head of state and announced the opening of similar centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Sochi. </p> <p> </p> <p> V. Putin also drew attention to the need to support basic science. According to him, it was possible to increase its potential and even reach the forefront in a number of areas in recent years. He urged to enter a fundamentally new level in the implementation of scientific projects, relying on the past achievements. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Powerful scientific and educational centers should operate in full force. They will integrate the capabilities of universities, academic institutions, and high-tech companies. Such centers are already being formed in Kazan, Samara, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, and other cities”, said the President of Russia. He noted that it is necessary to focus them on the implementation of major interdisciplinary projects, including in such a promising area as genomic research. </p> <p> </p> <p> In addition, V. Putin separately noted the successful experience of Kazan on the renewal of the urban environment. </p>
