Kazan citizens honored the memory of fallen soldiers in Pobedy Park

<p> (KZN.RU, May 9, Alena Miroshnichenko). The ceremony of laying flowers to the Eternal Flame, the Monument to the Mothers and the widows of the fallen soldiers took place today in Pobedy Park. </p> <p> Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Alexey Pesoshin, the prime minister of the RT, Mintimer Shaimiev, State Councilor of the RT, Asgat Safarov, the head of the Presidential Administration of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Kazan Executive Committee, Boris Kuznetsov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union, Ildus Mostiukov, Hero of Socialist Labor, design scientist and public figure, Major General Akhat Yulashev, the chairman of the Republican Major Public Organization of Veterans (Disabled) “Union of Veterans of the RT”, and others honored the memory on the day of the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. </p> <p> The wreaths were laid at the Eternal Flame of the colonnade of the Memorial of Glory, where those present honored the memory of the dead warriors with a minute of silence. Then they laid flowers at the Monument to the mothers and widows of fallen soldiers, to the memorial to the sailors who died in World War II. The guests also saw a new monument to rear front workers by Kazan sculptor Makhmut Gasimov. The monument is an architectural composition in the form of a mound, which depicts an anvil with a sword and ears of wheat. </p> <p> The President of the RT and others congratulated the participants on Victory Day, talked with veterans and participants in the ceremony, took some memorable pictures. </p> <p> The young soldiers and citizens with their families came to pay tribute to the memory of those who fought, those who died and those who forged the Great Victory in the rear. Thus, Veronika Smirnova, a resident of Kazan, came with her young children to lay flowers at the monuments. Passing by the veterans, she told the children about why these elderly people have so many orders and medals on their chests. “I want my children to remember these people. There are not so many of them left, but they represent the Great Victory. I hope they will be able to carry the pride of that feat through their lives”, she said.  </p>
