Forty-five fir trees were planted in the new park in Salavat Kupere

Presently, there are more than half of the trees, shrubs and perennials planned for planting in the public space.

Today, employees of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Gorvodzelenkhoz have planted 45 fir trees in a new park in the Salavat Kupere residential area in Kazan. The 12 years old seedlings were brought from a local nursery garden. Thus, now almost 500 trees and 4,400 shrubs have been planted in the public space.

According to Irek Gilmanov, chief agronomist of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Gorvodzelenkhoz, the planting of conifers is traditionally carried out twice a year – in autumn and spring.

For reference, in May 2022, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the concept of the park and drew the attention of architects to the importance of landscaping a new public space. “Despite the fact that there are many green areas near Salavat Kupere, including Lake Lebyazhye, it is important that there are many green spaces at the residential area, including coniferous trees”, - the head of the city noted.

Presently, 482 trees out of 865 planned have been planted in the park, I.Gilmanov noted. In addition to fir trees, there are poplars, maples, apple trees, birches, pines and willows here.

Also, 6,700 shrubs will appear in the public space, among them barberry, spiraea, dogwood, juniper, quince, rose rugosa and others. To date, 4,400 bushes have been planted in the park. 34 thousand perennial plants will decorate the square, 24.6 thousand of them have already been planted. At the end of the work, small reed, stonecrop, echinacea, moor grass, loosestrife and sage will appear on the flower beds.

Landscaping of the territory will provide for arrangement of a lawn, the total area of which will be 27,000 square meters. Today, work has already been carried out on an area of 13 thousand square meters.

The development of a new public space with an area of 6 hectares at the intersection of Nail Yusupov and Alfiya Avzalova streets started last year. According to the project, the territory includes three zones: a main square, as well as places for quiet and active recreation. The first phase of the park was completed in 2021. In September 2021, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, together with students of lyceum No.188 and gymnasium No.189 planted 15 cherry seedlings in the park.

Work on the second stage of landscaping has started this spring, they are planned to be completed shortly.
