More than 50 celebrations will be held in Kazan on Maslenitsa week

Folk festivals are organized in all districts of the city.

(KZN.RU, March 4, Ksenia Shvetsova). More than 50 holiday events are scheduled for the Maslenitsa Week in Kazan. Folk festivities will be held at numerous sites in all districts of the city, said Azat Abzalov, the head of the Department of Culture, today at the Business Monday.

Today, the Maslenitsa Week began in Russia, which will end on March 10. Kazan citizens can say goodbye to winter and meet the long-awaited spring in city parks and squares. In addition to public urban spaces, festive events will be organized in city houses of culture, art schools, and teen clubs. Mass holidays are planned in the residential areas Kadyshevo, Sukhaya Reka, Severny, Voznesenskoe, Mirny, Krasnaya Gorka, Otary, Konstantinovka, and Nagorny, in the forest near the Lebyazhie Lake together with the administrations of the districts, noted A. Abzalov.

Thus, on March 6 and 8, theater performances, fun sports competitions, snowmobile riding and dog sledding were prepared for the residents in the park “Krylya Sovetov”. And on March 10, guests of the park “Kaleidoscope” will enjoy a concert program with the participation of folk groups, folk games, fun, as well as traditional pancakes.

You can spend the festive week informatively and meaningfully in the museums of Kazan. Thus, until March 10, the Museum of the History of the Annunciation Cathedral invites everyone to a special program for schoolchildren with a master class. Maslenitsa events at the National Museum of the RT have already begun at the end of February and will continue until March 7. Visitors to the museum can learn how the holiday was celebrated in the old days, meet with a funny and cheerful skomorokh, and plunge into the atmosphere of traditional games, jokes, and songs.

A concert program with folk festivals and contests will be presented in the Kazan Zoo on March 10.

A holiday with pancakes and round dance will be held in the ice town near the Family Center “Kazan” on March 9. An entertainment program will please residents and guests of the city with songs, dances, fun contests, as well as a fair of products of masters of applied arts. The highlight of the holiday will be the traditional burning of a scarecrow.

One of the most popular sites of the celebration will traditionally become a forest near the Lebyazhie Lake. On March 10, a large-scale farewell of winter will be organized for residents of the capital with a theater performance, a concert program, a fair of folk crafts, a snow fortress and a scarecrow-burning rite.

Due to the celebration of Maslenitsa, bus routes №36, 46, 72 will operate in enhanced mode from 8 am to 3 pm on March 10.

“We invite everyone to take part in folk festivals. We hope the spring weather will not let us down and will add to the festive mood of the residents and guests of our capital”, said the head of the Department of Culture.

A more detailed program of events can be found on the portal KZN.RU in the section “Maslenitsa-2019”.
