The international stage of the WorldSkills flag relay started in Madrid

<p> (KZN.RU, March 13). The capital of Spain, where WorldSkills World Championship in professional skill was held for the first time in history in 1950, became the starting point in the foreign route of the WorldSkills flag relay. The parade of flags of all 44 previous WorldSkills competitions was held at the opening ceremony of the relay race with the participation of former contestants and volunteers. Also, the presentation of the upcoming World Championship WorldSkills Kazan-2019 was held. The championship will take place in August of the next year in the capital of Tatarstan and will bring together the best professionals fr om all over the world to compete for the title of world champion in more than 50 competencies. </p> <p> </p> <p> The WorldSkills flag relay started last year. The flag was solemnly handed over to Kazan, the city-organizer, at the closing ceremony of the WorldSkills World Cup Abu Dhabi-2017. Then it was delivered to Sochi, where the project “Flag Relay” was officially launched. In December 2017, the flag was sent to the International Space Station, wh ere it stayed for more than two months before returning to Earth in late February 2018. </p> <p> </p> <p> After the ceremony in Madrid, the flag will travel to 20 countries that previously hosted the world championships in professional skills. It will visit Germany, Ireland, the USA, Belgium, South Korea, the UAE, the Province of Taipei, Finland, Australia, Canada, Portugal, Switzerland, Brazil, Austria, Italy, the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Japan, reports the ANO “Department of sports and social projects”. </p> <p> </p> <p> Then the flag relay will begin its route across Russia. It is planned to cover all 85 subjects of the Russian Federation, as well as 43 municipal districts and 2 urban districts of the RT. The flag will be delivered to Kazan on the day of the WorldSkills Kazan-2019 opening ceremony, which will be held in the capital of Tatarstan on August 22-27, 2019. </p>
