The countdown clock to the 2022 Volleyball World Championship launches in Kazan

In a year, the capital of Tatarstan and nine other Russian cities will host matches with the participation of the best teams.

The countdown clock to the 2022 Volleyball World Championship was launched today, exactly one year before the start of the event, on the Kremlin Embankment of Kazan. The ceremonial button was pushed by the Chair of the Tatarstan State Council, President of the Volleyball Federation of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, Deputy of the State Duma Olga Pavlova, Deputy Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Almaz Mingulov, President of the Zenit-Kazan volleyball club Rafkat Kantyukov, member of the Russian Olympic Volleyball team Maxim Mikhailov, Special Olympics volleyball athletes Alina Abdrakhmanova and Roman Oshevalov.

Kazan hosted many major sporting events, F. Mukhametshin reminded in his speech. “The Volleyball World Championship will further prove the status of the capital of Tatarstan as a city capable of holding significant international events at a high level”, - he believes.

At the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Russian volleyball players won silver medals, the Chair of the Tatarstan State Council reminded. “We are proud of these wins, they give us an inspiration and confidence in our path”, - Press Offices of the Tatarstan State Council quotes F.Mukhametshin.

For reference, ten Russian cities will host the Volleyball World Championship in August-September 2022.
