The first stone is laid in the foundation of the perinatal center in Kazan

The medical institution will annually serve up to 8 thousand patients.

The perinatal center will comprise 160 beds. Up to 8 thousand births will be delivered here every year. Pregnant women from Kazan and from nearby regions of the republic will get medical assistance here.

“Today, we start the construction of a perinatal center. We pay great attention to the issues of increasing demography. One of our top priorities is safe maternity. We must create all the necessary conditions for expectant mothers. The opening of a modern center will significantly improve the quality of medical services”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said.

The new center will comprise a diagnostic unit with a maternity room – a surgery room and diagnostic department, an obstetric department with 100 beds, intensive care units, and a neonatal pathology department with 60 beds, 4 operating rooms and 7 birthing rooms. The neonatal intensive care unit will be equipped with modern breathing equipment and infant incubators for nursing babies. The construction is planned to be completed in August 2023, Tatarstan President’s Press Office reports.

Rustam Minnikhanov also visited the maternity clinic of the City Clinical Hospital 7 and met with specialists of the maternity obstetric department. Tatarstan President noted that the perinatal center will be built using modern technologies and will significantly transform the medical infrastructure of Tatarstan. The measures to reduce the infant mortality rate in the republic and the creation of an IVF center at the medical institution were discussed at the meeting.
