The tradition of collecting gifts at Sabantuy is reviving in Kazan

<p> (KZN.RU, June 18, Alina Berezhnaya). The tradition of collecting gifts at Sabantuy is reviving in Kazan. On June 21, horse-drawn carts, musicians and artists will pass through the main streets of the Tatarstan’s capital. Zufar Gayazov, the chairman of the Board of the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Kazan and the RT, announced this today at the press conference in the IA “Tatar-inform”. </p> <p> The gathering of the ceremony participants will begin at 11 am at the “Korston-Kazan”. Then four carts, decorated with traditional Tatar towels, will go through the main streets of the city. Thus, the column will pass through the streets of Karl Marks, Pushkin, Tatarstan and finish in the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda, said Z. Gayazov. </p> <p> The wagons will make two stops on Svobody Square and at the Kamal Theater, where guests and residents of Kazan can watch performances with songs and dances. </p> <p> According to Daria Sannikova, the director of the Tourism Promotion Committee of Kazan, the ceremony will gain interest among a large number of tourists. “The ceremony of collecting gifts in front of Sabantuy is a tradition and culture of our people. It is great that this ceremony takes place in the main tourist ways of Kazan, we expect that it will be interesting for both citizens and tourists”, said D. Sannikova. </p> <p> The transfer of gifts will take place on the stage at the Mardzhani Mosque. Large enterprises of the city associated with the hospitality industry will give gifts to the city fund, which will be awarded to the winners of competitions in Sabantuy. “We are waiting for people who are ready to contribute to the holiday, to support the old national tradition. A gift can be absolutely anything: a bicycle, a TV, household appliances, a painting”, explained Galina Sharafutdinova, the director of the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Kazan and the RT. </p> <p> Sabantuy will be held in Kazan on June 23 at four sites. </p>
