Two-hundred athletes from Russia and abroad will take part in the “Let's Win Together” tournament
The international competitions “Let's Win Together”, the largest swimming competition in the country for people with Down syndrome, kickoffs in Kazan. It will be attended by 200 representatives of 39 regions of Russia, as well as athletes from Italy, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan. Fifteen people from the capital of Tatarstan will perform at the competition.
Athletes who represented the Russian Federation at the Trisome Games in Turkey will participate in the competitions at the Burevestnik sports complex. Among them are Alexey Degtyarev and Angelina Makarova from Moscow, Sofia Alyoshina from Samara and Dmitry Pupkov from Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. Earlier, they set world records in individual and relay competitions, and also took part in many competitions.
In total, 14 types of programs (freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and others) and four types of relay swimming are planned at the competitions.
The opening ceremony of the competition will take place in the concert hall of the Volga State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, and tomorrow the participants will have an opening parade. The tournament will end with a creative evening with performances by the athletes. In addition, the participants will enjoy a cultural and entertainment program with a visit to the Kremlin and the Zoo.
The event is organized by the Charity Fund “Let's Win Together” with the support of the Kazan committee of Physical Culture and Sports.
“Let's Win Together” project was established in 2016. In 2018, Kazan hosted competitions with the participation of 80 athletes from 20 regions, after which the tournament began to be held in the capital of Tatarstan on an ongoing basis on behalf of Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
This year, the competition will be held in the city for the sixth time and will cover a record number of representatives from different countries.
