About a hundred tourism professionals compete for the victory in nine categories.
The practical part of the VI Municipal Competition of Professional Skills among employees of the tourism, restaurant and hotel industries “Stars of Hospitality – 2021” has started in Kazan. About a hundred professionals are competing for the victory in nine categories. The first competitions are held at the Nogai hotel.
Daria Sannikova, Director of the Committee for Tourism Development of the Executive Committee of Kazan, addressed to participants before the start of the competition. “The large number of tourists who came to Kazan during the May holidays shows that the city has a very high potential – people enjoy visiting our beautiful city, - she said. - The uniqueness of Kazan is in warmth and hospitality of the people. This separates us from other tourist destinations. Tourists want to come back to us repeatedly, and this is a huge merit of the employees of the hospitality industry-cooks, bartenders, waiters and managers. You are our hallmark”.
This year, the competition, which was started in January, is held for the sixth time in the competencies - Best Porter, Best Restaurant Manager, Best Manager for Domestic and Inbound Tourism, Best Cook, Best Baker, Best Waiter, Best Bartender, Best Maid, Best Travel Blogger. At the first stage, employees of hotels, cafes and restaurants were registered, performed tasks and participated in master classes in their competencies. In the practical part, the contestants have to perform their skills to the jury.
Well-known professionals of the hospitality industry will evaluate the contestants.
D.Sannikova noted that this year Kazan was recognized as the gastronomic capital of Russia.
According to her, in recent years, there is growing interest in the professions of the hospitality industry among students and this proves that tourism is developing, along with increasing requirements for professional skills in this industry. “We believe that the quality of service is also improving, - she added. – At the competition, it is important not only to perform skills – to bring a glass or a piece of cutlery. It is important to do it with love, hospitality, warmth. We will continue to focus on this in the future, working on the development of the tourism industry”.
