24 young skiers with health disabilities overcame a distance of 1000 meters.
(KZN.RU, March 15, Alena Miroshnichenko). The most successful participants in the sports event “Health Ski Day” among children with disabilities chosen in Kazan. More than 300 students of boarding schools practiced with professional skiers since December last year. Today, 24 of the best skiers out of their number took to the professional track of the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest to pass a distance of 1000 meters.
A rich cultural and entertainment program was organized for participants and guests of the event. Young guests could take part in a zumba master class, watch concert performances, take pictures with dogs of the Husky breed, take part in competitions, receive memorable prizes, and try pancakes.
Farida Safiullina, the director of the Republican Youth Sports and Adaptive School, noted that sport is important for everyone, but it is necessary for children with disabilities. “I would like to say that any event of a sports and recreational nature is necessary for the younger generation. This is a vaccination for life. If a child loves sports, he will always be healthy, will adhere to the right lifestyle, and then he will also bring up his children. The distance of 1000 meters for someone is large, for others not. But if a disabled child passes it, he will become a hero to himself, at least for today”, she said.
The honorary guest of today's event Irina Polyakova, Russian biathlete and skier, champion and silver medalist of the Paralympic Winter Games, multiple world champion, Honored Master of Sports of Russia in cross-country skiing and biathlon among athletes with disorders of the musculoskeletal system, was of the same opinion. “All sports are important. Sport gives strength, helps to leave the house, and gives the pleasure of communication with people and a lot of new information. And life has more fun in it!” she believes. “We must get out of four walls! Moreover, now sportsmen with disabilities are having attention, they receive funding, given form, sent on business trips. When I was training, there was no such thing”, marked I. Polyakova.
The heroes of today are the laureates of the competition. Vera Golovtseva, a student of the school №142, took the first place among girls. The second place was taken by Vera Romanova from the boarding school named after Lastochkina, and the third place went to Victoria Savina, a student of the school №11. Georgy Trusov from the school №11 received the highest prize among the boys. Students of the boarding school named after Lastochkina Eduard Davletbaev and Ravis Kharisov respectively took the second and the third places.
The charity event started on December 5, 2018, with the support of the Federation of Ski Racing and Biathlon of Kazan. During the winter, over 300 students of a correctional school and boarding schools of the Sovetsky district learned to ski, improved their skating skills, and took part in master classes of leading athletes. Today the level of training of the participants was completely different. For example, Vera Golovtseva, the winner among girls, participates in skiing competitions for the eleventh time. Alexey Petrov, who also traveled a kilometer distance, is in the tournament for the first time. Despite the fact that he did not manage to get a prize today, he plans to continue his training. “It was a bit hard, but I think I managed. Before, I skied back in the village for three years. But next year I will continue to study and try to ride downhill”, said A. Petrov.
Rustem Gafarov, the first deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee, Aisylu Khamzina, the deputy head of the Sovetsky district’s administration, Rustem Safin, the deputy chairman of the Federation of Ski Racing and Biathlon of Kazan, and others also took part in summing up the sports event.
