An updated children's department of a tuberculosis dispensary has opened in Kazan

The department will be able to serve up to 450 young patients per day.

(KZN.RU, February 6, Alina Berezhnaya). The updated children's dispensary department of the Republican Clinical TB Dispensary (RCTBD) has been opened in Kazan, at Chaliapin Street, №20. The three-floor extension house has offices of pulmonologists, an ultrasound examination, a clinical diagnostic laboratory, and a treatment room. Representatives of the city and republican mass media got acquainted with the conditions, in which doctors will be able to serve up to 450 young patients per day, during the press tour today.

The construction of a new annex to Dispatcher №2 of the RCTBD began in 1992, but in 1998 the works were suspended. In 2016, the republic allocated 174.9 million rubles and construction continued. “The building was designed according to the old standards. We had to dismantle two walls to make fire bridges wider. On the first floor, we placed wardrobes, receptionist, dining rooms, doctors' offices and ultrasound, procedural, also had to strengthen and warm the building foundation”, said Stanislav Shyrybyrov, the deputy director of the Main Investing Constructing Administration of the RT. The second floor has a children's department, the clinic of the diagnostic laboratory is located on the third floor.

Now the new building meets all the norms and standards. The department has modern equipment for the immunological diagnosis of tuberculosis infection, a digital X-ray machine, and high-precision devices for sputum collection. In addition, telemedicine methods have been implemented to consult doctors from other regions of the country. According to S. Shyrybyrov, the building has all the conditions for people with limited mobility. There are ramps, fences, tactile tiles, handrails with Braille, sanitary facilities, and an elevator in the department.

Little patients will be able to spend time in the game areas while waiting in the line to a doctor.

The new department allowed separating streams of adult patients and children, said Ildar Fatikhov, the deputy minister of Health of the RT. “Thanks to the construction of this building, we are concentrating all diagnostic services with a single laboratory in one place. In the future, we will decide on the relocation of the children's department of the clinic here, which is now located in the Kirovsky district”, said I. Fatikhov.

The treatment of the first patients in the renovated building will begin in the near future.

According to Ramziya Fatykhova, the chief freelance pediatric TB specialist of the Ministry of Health of the RT and the deputy head doctor of the RCTBD for work with children and adolescents, the incidence of tuberculosis among children in the republic is decreasing. Thus, according to the results of 2018, 36 ill children were registered in Tatarstan, 11 of them are from Kazan.
