<p> This year, the program of modernization of school canteens will continue in Kazan. After the renovation, school restaurants will replace canteens at 31 educational institutions. In three years, the capacity in the reconstructed canteens has increased by more than 6 thousand places. Rima Mukhamedshina, Director General of the Department of Food and Social Nutrition of Kazan, reported about this today at the Business Monday meeting in the Executive Committee of the city. </p> <p> Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, reminded that the decision to modernize school canteens was made in 2012. “When the department proposed the format of school restaurants, I was initially against this name, but they were able to convince me. Our main task was to reformat school canteens- Ilsur Metshin said. – School feeding should be tasty and healthy- not soda and sausage with ketchup”. </p> <p> Rima Mukhametshina reported that in just three years, 402 million rubles were invested in reforming school nutrition at the expense of the city and the department. This summer, as part of the implementation of the federal program to provide primary school students with free hot meals, 297.4 million rubles were allocated from the republican budget. 43 canteens were renovated. </p> <p> Since September 2021, 113 canteens have been operating in Kazan in the format of a school restaurant. “Due to the renovation, as well as the increase in space and the opening of new schools, the capacity of canteens has increased by more than 6 thousand places in three years,” Rima Mukhamedshina said. </p> <p> To control the quality of nutrition in schools, feedback has been established with parents. From January to December 2021, parents have left 17.9 thousand reviews, of which 99.5% were positive. </p> <p> In total, 850 requests were received through communication channels - hotline, website, social networks. “Parents of preschoolers and schoolchildren are actively interested in the menu for children with allergy, diabetes and lactose intolerance, a variety of fruits and vegetables, the schedule of meals in schools, and the number of dairy products in preschools. Opinions are divided, someone has a lot of dairy products, and others say that it is not sufficient”, – the speaker said. </p> <p> The official Instagram account of the department conducts daily surveys among parents on the compliance of free hot meals at primary school. Parents can compare the actual menu with the declared one, and in case of inconsistency promptly give feedback. On average, 99% of parents surveyed are satisfied. In case of discrepancy, the information is checked by the employees of the department. </p> <p> In 2021, the Department of Food and Social Nutrition organized meals for 286 thousand students in 1065 educational institutions, including 367 schools in Kazan and eight in the districts of the republic, 681 kindergartens in Kazan and 10 districts of Tatarstan, 9 hospitals in the capital of the republic and in Laishevo. </p> <p> “The department has good feedback with consumers of services. They serve nine districts of the republic, healthcare institutions, but first of all, these are children in schools and kindergartens. Today, the department is a large company, which provides meals to 286 thousand people per day”, - Ilsur Metshin emphasized. </p>
