In August, the first stage of the reconstruction of the Fisherman's Garden will be completed in Kazan

The alley, benches, lighting, as well as a playground will be renewed in the park.

In the Kirovsky district of Kazan, the first stage of the reconstruction of the Fisherman's Garden at Kyzyl Armeyskaya Street is being completed. The workers have already completed the landscaping of the alley and the installation of paving stone. Today, Rustem Gafarov, head of the Executive Committee, inspected the progress of construction work.

The construction work, which is being carried out under the Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment federal project, is planned to be completed in August. Presently, the playground is being equipped, the outdoor lighting and video surveillance system is being installed, as well as small architectural forms. In addition, the landscaping of the territory is being completed, including work on the installation of an automatic irrigation system. Information and way-finding stands will also be installed at the garden.

Special attention was paid to the pavement in the park – pedestrian paths and pavement of the playground, said Daria Tolovenkova, deputy chief architect of the capital of Tatarstan. “All alleys will be paved with paving slabs and special road stone. In winter, a ski track will run along the alleys of the park”, - she reported.

The playground will be paved with wood chips treated with a special fire-preventing impregnation. According to D.Tolovenkova, this is the safest and most environmentally friendly type of road surface. “At a meeting with the residents of the city, we showed what materials will be used for landscaping, and received a positive feedback”, - said D.Tolovenkova.

The public space is located next to the renovated library Klara Zetkin Street. “Every citizen of Kazan can take a book and relax in the park. I am sure that the renovated garden will become an excellent recreation area not only for residents of the Kirovsky district, but also for all Kazan residents and visitors of the capital of Tatarstan, - the head of the Executive Committee assured. - It is important to finish all the work according to the schedule”, -Rustem Gafarov summed up.

It is planned to start the second stage of reconstruction of the park next year. A sports ground, a football pitch with an amphitheater, a tennis court, an activities area will open in the Fisherman's Garden – in summer it is planned to organize open-air film screenings there, and in winter to install a New Year’s tree.

Besides, the garden will have a unique lighting design – there will be retro style lanterns and garlands. After the renovation, the central object of the park will be a restored fountain with a sculpture.

For reference, today there are 150 parks, squares and gardens in the capital of Tatarstan. From 2011 to 2021, 107 public spaces were landscaped in Kazan, including 31 new ones. The total area of parks and squares has increased by 275 hectares in ten years – up to 449 hectares. This year, nine public spaces are planned to be landscaped in Kazan, among them – the park in the Salavat Kupere residential area, the square of the 100th anniversary of the formation of Tatarstan construction industry, the “Maloe Chaikovo Lake” park.
