(KZN.RU, June 27). From 20 to 27 of August 27, 2020, the first Games of the CIS countries in history will take place in Kazan. Competitions in 19 sports will be held at 11 sites in the capital of Tatarstan. Officially, the games in Russia were approved at a meeting of the government commission under the leadership of Olga Golodets, the deputy prime minister of the RF.
Apart from Russia, participants in the competition will be Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. Also, the organizing committee may invite other countries to participate. It is expected that Kazan will take more than two thousand athletes and 600 officials.
“Kazan is the sports capital of Russia. In our city, we can hold competitions on the basis of the existing infrastructure. These are both sports facilities and the Universiade Village. We also plan to use the Kazan Expo. We are now starting a systematic preparation for the event. After it is held in Kazan, it will become traditional and will be held every two years in the CIS countries”, said Vladimir Leonov, the minister of Sport of the RT.
Competitions in 19 sports will be held at 11 sites in the capital of Tatarstan. Among them are the Palace of Water Sports, the Martial Arts Palace “Ak Bars”, the Center of Beach Sports, Sports Club “Miras”, the Boxing and Table Tennis Center, the International Exhibition Center “Kazan Expo”, the Sports Palace and the Central Stadium, reports the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the RT.
Athletes will compete in sports such as judo, sambo, beach volleyball, beach handball, futsal, boxing, Thai boxing, chess, dance, fencing, karate, weight-lifting, arm wrestling, mass wrestling, amateur wrestling, Koresh, athletics and basketball (3x3).
