(KZN.RU, July 8, Alena Miroshnichenko). Today, the “Flower Festival” opened for the fifth time in Kazan on the ground in front of the Puppet Theater “Ekiyat”. Until the end of summer, the triumphal arch dedicated to the upcoming 100th anniversary of the TASSR, the miniature based on the fairytale motifs “In the dark blue forest” and other unique compositions will delight citizens and tourists. In total, 15 new compositions and 17 ones created last year are presented in the area of 23 thousand square meters. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, appreciated the scale and beauty of the festival.
“This year, we decided to use an additional green zone, which was previously covered by a lawn. New compositions have been placed, and the total number of all works is twice as large as last year”, said Eduard Vafin, the deputy chairman of the Committee for External Improvement. He explained that the most successful compositions of previous years were preserved on the ground in front of the Puppet Theater; in the fall, they were dismantled, and then restored in the spring.
Thus, the last year’s favorite works are “Alice in Wonderland”, a quaint baobab, and also “Rose-colored glasses” with the old convertible painted in bright pink color as the center. Even though these miniatures are already familiar to many citizens, they remain the center of attraction at the festival site.
Landscape compositions, plant nurseries, enterprises of the housing and communal services sector and the construction complex traditionally represent their compositions on the site. The theme of the festival was the “Bright Colors of Summer”. Specialists used flowers, trees, bushes, art objects, decorative elements, artistic lighting to create compositions.
The McDonald's site, made for the 20th anniversary of the company's appearance in Tatarstan, the triumphal arch dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the TASSR, the composition “Dance with the Wind”, as well as the stage musical venue with a piano and a track in the form of keys stands out among the new compositions.
One of the most dynamic compositions of this festival is “Dance with the Wind”. Three female silhouettes in lush skirts strewn with lilac flowers fluttering in the wind due to the air unit. Annual flowers are used among the materials: lobelia, ageratum, alyssum, and cineraria. “The idea of this work is to revive the city and the space that surrounds us by adding to the landscape a certain movement and dynamics. We did this with the help of air, but this can be done with water or any other mechanisms”, said Alexander Bakhtin, the general director of the “Imperatorsky Pitomnik” who worked on the creation of figures.
Another large-scale composition is “Fabulous time” from the MC “Uyutny Dom”. “The Firebird symbolizes good luck and kindness. Everyone who touches this bird gets luck. We decided to create such a composition so that people could touch it. We used marigolds, petunias, coleus; they look great in urban space, very juicy and bright”, explained Alinur Abdrakhmanova, the architect-designer, who developed the design of the figure.
The triumphal arch “Triumph” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the TASSR is a bright spot. It is a frame filled with photos and plants. According to the creators “RC Service” and the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts’ administration, it is the construction that the city lacks. “This is a layout, an approximate project. This arch will personify large-scale events that took place in our republic, will remind of the great names and feats of the Tatar people during the Great Patriotic War, as well as other events”, said Irina Bochkova, the head of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts’ administration. She also urged citizens to upload bright, cheerful photos to the network, both with the arch or in other places with the hashtag “100 лет дружбы”. In total, it will be possible to take more than 250 frames.
Footpaths are laid on the square, small architectural forms, hammocks, shadow canopies, bright flower beds are placed. The Mayor of Kazan also planted flowers on one of the flower beds along with young Kazan citizens.
The mirror labyrinth is located on the green zone, and in the central part is the stage for events. Festival guests can join numerous master classes, as well as acquaint with the exhibition of paintings.
According to the established tradition, the social project “Cultural Wednesday in Blooming Kazan” will take place at the festival site throughout the summer. It involves holding various master classes, poetry readings, meetings with poets and writers, live music concerts, and much more.
