Tatiana Golikova: “Preparations for WorldSkills in Kazan are ahead of schedule”

The opening and closing ceremonies, logistics and occupancy of the sites for competitions were discussed at the meeting.

(KZN.RU, January 24, Alina Berezhnaya). Preparing for the World Championship of working professions WorldSkills, which will be held in Kazan from 22 to 27 of August, is ahead of schedule. Tatiana Golikova, the deputy chairperson of the Government of the Russian Federation for Social Policy, said this to journalists today following the meeting of the WorldSkills Organizing Committee in the Kazan City Hall.

Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Robert Urazov, the general director of WorldSkills Russia, as well as technical experts, heads of delegations, experts who will be responsible for building competitive sites, and others attended the meeting.

T. Golikova said that about 250 thousand people are expected to participate in the championship. Therefore it is necessary to organize convenient logistics for both guests from the Russian regions and from abroad. “A large number of air carriers have expressed the desire to provide a preferential tariff for fans and children. Representatives of railway transport also voiced the same desire”, noted Tatiana Golikova.

There was also a proposal to organize day trips to Kazan during the championship days for children from neighboring regions of the country. “We need to give children the opportunity to take part in competitions so that they can get a professional orientation at the WorldSkills”, explained Tatiana Golikova.

Issues of security, the opening and closing ceremonies of the competition, the occupancy of the competition sites have been discussed at the meeting as well.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that there were no unresolved issues left during the meeting. “I do not see any problems. I would like a large number of young people from other subjects to come and see these competitions”, said R. Minnikhanov.

Today, an opening of the countdown until WorldSkills took place on Bauman Street in Kazan.
