An athlete from Kazan won the Open Fencing Championship of the Union State

At the tournament in Minsk, Marta Martyanova defeated her opponent with a score of 15:14

Kazan athlete and Olympic champion Marta Martyanova claimed gold in the Union State Open Fencing Championship. The tournament is being held in Minsk from 29 May to 5 June.

Marta Martyanova beat Adelina Zagidullina from Bashkortostan in the final with a score of 15:14. Bronze medals were collected by the two-time winner of the Union State Open Championship Svetlana Tripapina (Moscow) and current third-place fencer in the all-Russian ranking Kristina Samsonova (Kursk region). A total of 47 women competed in foil.

The tournament hosted the strongest athletes from Russia and Belarus awarding 12 sets of medals among them: two individual and team awards for each type of weapons.

Earlier the Kazan foil fencer won the Russian Championship. Throughout her career, Marta Martyanova became an Olympic champion and twice captured silver at the European Championships.
