Kazan's first inclusive center for continuing education, Vmeste, officially began operating in September. Presently, 138 children participate in 17 different activities of the center, among them are103 children with special needs. In the future, it is planned to increase the number of activities, as the number of children who want to study at the center grows.
Tatiana Merzlyakova, the director of the Dobraya Kazan NGO, noted that during the first two months of operation of the Dobraya Kazan center, together with education department and teachers working with children with special needs had done a great work to create a comfortable environment for every child.
«We care about every child regardless of their health status. Inclusion means making it convenient for everyone, both typical and those with special needs. We are working on this issue and Vmeste center is a flagship here», - Tatiana Merzlyakova noted.
Initially, the space was created to promote the mutual development and integration of children and adolescents with various health conditions.
Currently, the center offers 17 different activities. Some classes are conducted in mixed groups where children with and without disabilities participate. In addition to classes, children also interact during breaks and other events at the center.
