<p> </p> <p> This week in Kazan, traffic will be closed on one half of the Millennium Bridge. </p> <p> “This involves conducting an inspection of the facility and determining the scope of repair work,”- Igor Kulyazhev, deputy head of the Executive Committee, said at a meeting. </p> <p> For reference, the Millennium Bridge was opened in 2007. </p> <p> “For 16 years of its operation, as part of the maintenance, work was previously carried out only to replace the upper layers of asphalt concrete pavement. Today there is an urgent need to restore waterproofing, complete replacement of all layers of pavement, partial repair of superstructures, supports and other elements,”- the speaker noted. </p> <p> “This week we are starting the long-awaited repair of the Millennium Bridge, there will be some inconveniences, but this is very necessary work. Carrying out repairs will affect the traffic flow, so we ask drivers to take this into account when planning travel time. We will not completely close the bridge, but for some time there will be some inconveniences,”- said Rustem Gafarov, head of the Executive Committee of Kazan. </p> <p> At the time of closure, two-way traffic on the bridge will be organized on the other half of the bridge from Vishnevskogo Street to Sibgat Khakima Street. The traffic scheme is currently being coordinated. </p> <p> “We discussed the scheme with the traffic police and received a number of comments, today they will be eliminated. Within two days we will receive an agreed decision of the commissions and proceed to the closure of the bridge,”- Igor Kulyazhev said. The head of the Executive Committee of the city instructed to take into account not only the condition of the roadbed, but also the available parking. </p> <p> “We hope for understanding of drivers, since we received a large number of comments on the state of the bridge and the road surface on the access roads,”- Igor Kulyazhev added. </p> <p> The Millennium Bridge is a high–speed highway with a total length of more than 1.5 km, and the superstructure - 835 m. Earlier, the construction was inspected by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. The head of the republic instructed to complete all the planned works on time and strictly control their quality. </p> <br> <p> </p>
