Issues of food supply and measures on prevention the coronavirus were discussed with representatives of major local retail chains at the Executive Committee of Kazan.
Today, Denis Kalinkin, head of the Executive Committee, held a meeting with the local managers of major retail chains. The meeting discussed measures to prevent the spread of viral infections and the issue of uninterrupted supply of citizens with essential items. As the meeting participants noted, the demand for certain essential items has increased, but there are no preconditions for consumer’s scarcities.
“Customers need to keep a distance of at least one meter”
Today, the consumer market of Kazan has more than 3 thousand 200 trading facilities. The city daily monitors chains for the availability of essential food products, as well as compliance with hygiene rules in stores, said the Chairman of the consumer market Committee, Ruslan Fazylzyanov.
R.Fazylzyanov reminded the heads of retail networks about the prevention measures in shops. They were recommended to provide employees with hand cleaners and skin antiseptics, as well as to control their health and take their temperature.
Besides, the store management should organize the work to minimize queues and close contact of customers. It is necessary to constantly warn customers about the need to avoid close contact - not less one meter from each other, recommended Ruslan Fazylyanov.
“Compliance with these measures will secure safety, both for customers and for staff”, - D.Kalinkin noted.
The retailers assured that all safety measures are respected in retail chains.
“There is sugar, pasta and buckwheat in warehouses in sufficient scales”
Ruslan Fazylzyanov reported that the monitoring of the shops revealed the shortage of essential items in some of them.
Despite the increased demand for long-term storage goods, retail chains do not have problems with stocks, retailers assured. The food is being bought up very quickly in recent days, and store employees simply do not have time to replenish stocks and put it on the shelves.
For example, at the Kazan distribution warehouse, 300 tons of goods are currently stored, and the grocery stock is enough for 15-20 days. At the same time, the warehouse is regularly filled up with new food products. So, every day the goods are brought in by 200 trucks (for information, one car holds 16 tons of rice).
“Groceries- sugar, pasta, buckwheat- are stored in warehouses of more than 200 tons –said Roman Kondrakov, head of the North-Western branch of the Magnit retail chain. – Products are delivered to the distribution logistics center on schedule and arrive in stores in a short time. Amid the background of increased demand, we have increased the number of deliveries to retail chains”.
“We need to fast-track the requests of citizens”
Denis Kalinkin urged retailers to fill up the stocks of sold-out detergents and avoid their shortage. “Let's work more quickly in this direction. There is a need for disinfectants – it is necessary to provide in the shortest possible time - the head of the Executive Committee emphasized. – We need to keep these issues under control and respond quickly”.
First Deputy Minister of agriculture and food of the Republic of Tatarstan, Nail Zalakov said that the problem with disinfectants is to be resolved in the near future. He also appealed to retailers not to raise prices following the buying fever.
At the end of the meeting, Denis Kalinkin appealed to store managers to fill up their stocks of all necessary goods in a timely manner. “It is obvious that the rush is artificial – he said. – A lot of fake information is spread on social networks, forcing citizens to behave like this. Fake information must be prevented. However, we once again urge store managers to fast-track the changes".
