R. Minnikhanov held the meeting of the Republican Anti-Drug Commission

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, took part in the meeting in Kukmor.

(KZN.RU, April 23). The visiting meeting of the Anti-Drug Commission in Tatarstan was held today by Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, during his working visit to Kukmor.

Alexey Pesoshin, the prime minister of the RT, Asgat Safarov, the head of the Staff of the President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Yuri Kamaltynov, the deputy chairman of the State Council of the RT, members of the Anti-Terrorist Commission in the RT, heads of ministries and departments of the republic and territorial federal structures, heads of municipalities of the republic took part in the meeting.

The following topics were mentioned at the meeting: results of the work of ministries and departments, local governments of municipalities of the RT on countering the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and preventing anesthesia of the population in Tatarstan in 2018 and identified objectives for the current year.

Opening the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the economic potential of the republic allows solving important social problems. “The main goal of our work was and remains the life quality of the population. Countering drug abuse is an integral part of our public policy”, marked the President of the RT.

Rustam Nigmatullin, the first deputy prime minister of the RT, made the keynote report. He reported that over the past 5 years, considerable funds were allocated in the republic for the implementation of anti-drug projects and support for the activities of non-profit organizations. This made it possible to stop the dangerous tendency of increasing the prevalence of drug addiction, consolidate the positive dynamics of decreasing morbidity and mortality, and also significantly strengthen the material and technical base of drug treatment institutions.

There are 9 state rehabilitation centers for drug addicts on the territory of the republic. The municipal social rehabilitation center “Rosa Vetrov” in Kazan successfully implements 7 programs for the re-socialization of drug addicts with a course from 1 to 2 months. More than two thousand people have received help in the center for 13 years of work, 60% of them are in stable remission.

Rustam Nigmatullin noted that the rapid development of IT-technologies makes it possible to expand the boundaries of the distribution of a wide variety of information, including in the area of illicit drug trade. Last year, 750 Internet pages containing references to drugs were blocked in the republic according to law enforcement agencies, reports the press service of the President of the RT.

Marat Sadykov, the minister of Health of the RT, and Ryagat Khusainov, the head of the Leninogorsk region, also spoke at the meeting.

Summing up the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov marked that the Ministry of Education and Science of the RT should develop measures aimed at increasing the efficiency of early detection of drug use, to increase the targeting of work with at-risk teenagers and their parents. The President of the RT instructed the Ministry of Health of the RT to enhance work on the development of rehabilitation centers in the state segment.

“Law enforcement agencies need to take effective measures to prevent the growth of the supply of banned substances in the republic. They need to expand cooperation with colleagues from other regions, make greater use of the possibilities of IT technologies, introduce new methods of combating drug trading”, he said.

The President of the RT also instructed to work actively with young people, to prepare and implement targeted social projects.
