The President of Tajikistan notes the special status of Kazan as the host city for the BRICS summit

Rustam Minnikhanov and Ilsur Metshin hold a meeting with Emomali Rahmon

Today, the Rais (Head) of the republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and the Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, held a meeting with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who had arrived in Kazan to attend the summit meeting in the outreach/BRICS + format.

During their discussion, the President of Tajikistan emphasized the significance of Kazan as the host venue for the BRICS summit and acknowledged its special status.

The parties discussed key areas of cooperation. Rustam Minnikhanov, addressing Emomali Rahmon, said: «Tatarstan is interested in expanding its presence in the market of your country».

According to the President of Tajikistan, regional cooperation remains a priority in his country. The share of Tatarstan in the overall trade between the two states is $50 million. «This figure needs to be increased», – he believes.
