The members of the delegation were welcomed by the deputy mayor of Kazan Evgenia Lodvigova. She told the guests about the capital of Tatarstan.
“We conduct a targeted work at various international organizations. The headquarters of the Eurasian section of the World Organization “United Cities and Local Governments” and the Eurasian branch of the International Organization of World Heritage Cities are located in Kazan”, - said E.Lodvigova.
In turn, the Mayor of Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar, thanked for the warm welcome, noting that Kazan is an example to be followed by many cities.
The guests interested about the transport system of the city. Evgenia Lodvigova informed them that the reform of this system began in 2006. An important area of work was the optimization of the route network, the renewal of rolling stock and the introduction of innovative technologies.
Director General of the MUE Metroelektrotrans Aidar Abdulkhakov added that due to regular updates, the average age of the Kazan public transport fleet is 4.5 years. “The city purchases gas-engine buses that meet high environmental standards,”- he stressed.
Aidar Abdulkhakov explained that a contactless payment system is used in all types of transport –bank card and cash payments are available. Tkhan Aung Chow, Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations of Myanmar, noted that this is a great experience, a standard to strive for.
