About 3 thousand athletes will take part in the BRICS Games

<p> About five thousand people – 3,000 athletes and 2,000 officials - will take part in the BRICS Games in Kazan. About five hundred invited guests are also expected, Tatarstan Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov announced at the annual press conference. </p> <p> “Invitations have been sent to five BRICS member states, as well as to six countries (Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates),”- he said. </p> <p> Participants will compete in 27 sports at 17 sports venues. Among them are badminton, boxing, swimming, athletics, diving, fencing, rhythmic gymnastics, chess, etc. </p> <p> For reference, the BRICS Games will take place in the capital of the republic of Tatarstan in June 2024. On the eve of competitions, the Mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin announced the reconstruction of the Central Stadium. The venue will host athletics competitions in 16 disciplines. </p>
