According to the results of the first half of the year, the number of Tatarstan sellers on marketplaces increased by 37%

In Kazan, there are 435 pick-up points and almost 2 thousand delivery points.

The consumer market in the first half of 2022 was affected by pandemic restrictions, sanctions and the withdrawal of international companies from the market. Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan Ildar Shakirov reported on the changes in consumer market and adapting to new conditions on the Business Monday meeting.

Today, almost 6.5 thousand consumer market facilities are operating in Kazan. They employ 140 thousand people or more than 12% of the total number of employees.

A positive trend is shown in the development of the e-commerce market. Today, about 11, 277 Kazan entrepreneurs are successfully working on large marketplaces. The conditions created in Kazan allow increasing the e–commerce market - 435 pick-up points, almost 2 thousand delivery points and logistics companies. From 2020 to 2021, the number of Tatarstan sellers on marketplaces increased from 321 to over 23 thousand. According to the results of the first half of this year, the number of sellers increased by another 37% and exceeded 31,500. “According to this indicator, Tatarstan is the leader in the Volga Federal District”, - said I.Shakirov.

“New sales channel allow any Kazan manufacturer to sell successfully the goods online. At the same time, the sale of goods is not limited to Kazan and sellers can ship products throughout the country. These are completely different opportunities for our manufacturers”, - said Rustem Gafarov, Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan.

At the same time, the decline in the construction material market continues. As explained by I.Shakirov, now there is a redistribution in favor of Russian suppliers. In addition, the situation in the market of household appliances and electronics is becoming more complicated. “Trade turnover in this segment decreased by more than 48% due to high dependency on imports”, - said the Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan.

The situation in the shopping centers of Kazan remains difficult. According to I.Shakirov, due to the temporarily suspended work of international brands, visitor traffic decreased by more than 14%. To solve the existing challenges, meetings were held with the managers of shopping centers and retail chains with the participation of the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. The result of the meetings was the land tax freezing, the possibility of placing educational and medical institutions in the retail facilities that sell alcohol. In addition, the lifting of covid restrictions revived the demand.

I.Shakirov also noted the positive effect of the measure to reduce the acquiring rate until the end of August. “This is a temporary but positive step”, - Deputy Head of the Executive Committee noted.

“In general, the market is recovering, and new logistics chains are emerging in the non-food sector. Free niches are being replenished”, - Rustem Gafarov stressed.
