More than 2 thousand patriotic actions are held annually in Tatarstan

The most popular events are the Immortal Regiment and the Victory Volunteers.

(KZN.RU, February 19, Alina Berezhnaya). Issues of military-patriotic education were discussed today at a thematic briefing that took place at the Kazan Higher Tank Red Banner Command School.

Leila Fazleeva, the deputy prime minister of the RT, Sergey Pogodin, the military commissar of the RT, Damir Danniulov, the chairman of the regional public and state association DOSAAF, Alexander Borodin, the head of the regional headquarters of the patriotic movement “Yunarmiya”, took part in it.

Leila Fazleeva said that more than 400 youth organizations are engaged in patriotic education in Tatarstan today. “The formation of civic competences in Russia is one of the priorities. This issue is very important for a multinational republic. It concerns the study of the history of its people, language, national costume, cuisine, etc.”, said L. Fazleeva. The speaker also noted that more than 2 thousand patriotic actions are held annually in the republic, the most massive are the Immortal Regiment and the Victory Volunteers.

For many years, one of the largest patriotic movements in the republic remains a squad of “Yunarmiya”. Alexander Borodin, the head of the regional headquarters of the patriotic movement “Yunarmiya”, said that last year, the young men of the republic took the second place in the all-Russian rating of the regional branches of the VVPOD “Yunarmiya” and the first place in the Volga Federal District. Speaking about the goals and objectives for the coming years, he said that it is necessary to create units not only in every school but in every class. “The times of the pioneers, the octobrists are forgotten. Now this is all being revived, and our children want to be young soldiers”, he said.

A great contribution to the patriotic education is made by the military commissariat of the republic. According to Sergey Pogodin, the military commissar of the RT, more than 6000 draftees from Tatarstan went to serve in the country's armed forces last year. Contract service is gaining popularity as well. Every year about 1000 young men go to serve in the Samara, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk Oblasts and the Kuril Islands. The voluntary society of assistance to the army, aviation, and the fleet of the RT helps to prepare future defenders. Damir Danniulov said that last year, 873 cadets were trained in five different specialties, another 857 young men will be trained this year. D. Danniulov also noted that in the last couple of years, recruits show poor weapon handling skills, in particular, poor shooting. The Chairman of the Board of DOSAAF RT proposed to create a program, thanks to which the number of galleries in the republic would increase. Today there are only two ones in Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny.
