In 2024, the municipal archive of Kazan has become the leader in the digitization of documents

The municipal archive of Kazan ranked first among other organizations in the republic in terms of the digitization of documents last year. During the reporting period, the archive digitized 2,872 files, and since the beginning of 2022, more than 6,000 files have been digitized, including more than 1 million sheets. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, listened to a report on the activities of the municipal archives for 2024 and also visited the building of this institution. Gulnara Musina, the head of the Municipal Archive Department at the Kazan Executive Committee, led a tour of the newly renovated building. After renovation, the space for storing documents has increased six-fold to 4,600 square meters. The total area of the six-story building is more than 7,000 square meters. Forty-eight archives are located here. These archives are equipped with shelves that are approximately 4 kilometers in length. The temperature, humidity, lighting, and sanitation conditions in the premises are constantly monitored and maintained. The building is also equipped a modern fire suppression system. One of the main work is the digitalization of permanent storage documents. The Mayor of Kazan got acquainted with a work of planetary scanner, which allows careful digitization of dilapidated documents without damaging the binding. Ilshur Metshin also visited a modern reading room with access to a unified archival information system: users can study digitized materials or work with original sources here. In total, 6,000 files have been digitized by the municipal archive since 2022. According to the results of last year, the institution ranks first among the municipal archives of the republic, 2,872 files were digitized during this period. “Thanks to this work, the time required to provide services to individuals and legal entities has been halved,”- said Gulnara Musina, head of the archive. During the reporting period, the institution provided a total of more than 19,000 state and municipal services. Among the most demanded are obtaining certificates, copies of documents on salary and work experience. The staff of the municipal archive currently ensure the safety of 1,692 funds, or more than 143,000 storage units. These include documents on personnel, personal origin, and management documentation. There are 24 funds in the municipal archive that are of personal origin. Seven of these funds were created last year and contain information about veterans of the Great Patriotic War and fallen participants in the special military operation.
