Konstantin Chuichenko stressed the importance of constitutional reform in the new foreign policy conditions
The Kazan International Legal Forum has become an important platform for discussions on a wide range of legal issues. Such events promote effective interaction between local and international representatives of the business community, legal science and public authorities, Russian Justice Minister Konstantin Chuichenko said today at the plenary session of the forum.
“Today we observe that, in order to please the political ambitions of some countries, the institutions of international law are gradually being destroyed, the provisions of international treaties are being ignored, fundamental human rights and freedoms are being questioned, the universally recognized principles of sovereign equality and non-interference in the internal affairs of states are being trampled. The tendency of the growth of an alien and destructive system of ideas and values for society is becoming more and more obvious. However, under these conditions, Russia remains committed to traditional spiritual and moral guidelines and moral principles, including in law,”- Konstantin Chuichenko noted.
The Russian Minister of Justice noted the importance of the 2020 constitutional reform. According to him, the priorities of the norms of Russian legislation over the norms of international law are now being specified in case they contradict the norms of the Russian Constitution. In addition, a procedure has been introduced to eliminate conflicts in the interpretation of international law and the basic law of the country through constitutional supervision.
