<p> Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the construction of a new school on Yunus Akhmetzyanov street in the Art-city residential complex. The head of the city inspected the construction and noted that despite the intensive construction of educational institutions, the demand remains high due to the growing number of school students. </p> <p> <b>The school is being built according to a standard project with the extension of the block for the second pool</b> </p> <p> Construction of the school for 1501 students has started in December 2019 under the special federal program. It aims at teaching school students on a single-shift basis. The total area of the 3-storey building will be 29299,26 sq. m. On the first floor there will be lobbies with dressing rooms, class rooms, a dining room, and medical facilities. The dining room is designed for 530 seats. On the second and third floors, there will be classrooms, a school library, administration offices and an assembly hall housing 780 students. The school will have two swimming pools and two gyms, as well as playgrounds for team sports: hockey, volleyball, basketball, and football. </p> <p> It is planned to put the school into operation next year, Gazinur Akhmetov, the head of Ak Tash construction company, said. </p> <p> “This will be a modern, advanced school with all the necessary infrastructure,” - said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. </p> <p> <b>This year, a record number of first-graders will start school in Kazan- more than 20.5 thousand people</b> </p> <p> Despite the fact that Kazan is the leader among other million-person cities in the construction of new schools, the demand for educational institutions remains high, the head of the city noted. “This year, a record number of first- graders will start school in Kazan- more than 20.5 thousand people. This imposes a particular responsibility on us. Despite the fact that we have built 25 schools over the past 15 years, it is still not enough. Therefore, it is important to continue this work,” - said I.Metshin. </p> <p> This year will also be a record for the commissioning of new schools, the Mayor said and that currently, as part of the Federal and Republican programs, two schools are being built in Kazan – in a new residential complex on Nazib Zhiganov street and on Bondarenko street as part of the Adymnar poly-linguistic complex. The Adymnar will be the first educational complex in the republic with the simultaneous learning of multiple languages. “Not only the number of new facilities is growing, but also the quality of education”, - the Mayor said. </p> <p> It is important that the construction of housing and major social facilities is not suspended in the capital of Tatarstan, the Mayor said. “As we know, one job at a construction site allows to create additional 9 jobs in related industries and provide work to specialists of other professions – electricians, technicians, furniture makers and others. This is very important, especially in a tense economic situation – he said. - Thanks to Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan President, the financing of all major construction projects has been approved in our city, so we will continue this work”. </p> <p> For information, 12 kindergartens for 2,560 children and two schools for 2,725 students were built in Kazan last year. In addition, two extensions to existing schools for 510 seats and an additional building of school №114 on Kulagina street for 144 students were built. </p>
