WorldSkills cultural program in Kazan: light show, performances and master classes in makeup and props
During the championship days, there will be 8 concerts, 31 performances, 16 exhibitions and thematic expositions in the city.

During the WorldSkills Championship Kazan 2019, a busy cultural program was prepared for guests and residents of the city. 8 concerts will be held in Kazan, 31 performances will be shown in 6 leading theaters of the city, and 16 exhibitions and thematic expositions will be open in Kazan museums. Today, Damir Natfullin, the deputy minister of Culture of the RT, spoke about this at a press conference in the news agency “Tatar-inform”.
The cultural program will begin a few days before the start of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 with the festival of Tatar design and urban culture “Pechen Bazary”. It will take place on the embankment of Kaban Lake on August 17-18. 120 designers, including from Udmurtia, the Komi Republic, Kazakhstan and Altai, will present their works. In addition to the design market, there will be a farm market with natural products, a second-hand site, lectures, and master classes, said Lenaria Muslumova, the chairperson of the World Forum of Tatar Youth, who organizes the event.
A rich cultural program during the championship was prepared at the reserve-museum “Kazan Kremlin”. Svetlana Konovalova, the deputy director of the museum for scientific work, said that from August 18, all the museums of the complex will change their working hours and will be open until 9 pm.
From August 21 to 23, a light show to the music of Tatar composers in a modern arrangement will be shown on the Spasskaya Tower of the Kremlin. One of the topics of the light show will be the 100th anniversary of the TASSR.
From August 23 to 25, the 3rd Kremlin Confederation of Art festival will be held in the Cannon Courtyard. The first day of the festival will be devoted to choreography, the second day to classical music, and the third one to the works of modern youth groups. Concerts will begin at 6 pm and continue until 9.30 pm.
On August 27, a festival of national costumes will be organized at the same site. From 12 pm to 5 pm, folklore and choreographic collectives will present their work. In addition, master classes, exhibitions, fashion shows, photo zones will take place there, said S. Konovalova.
Also, the exhibition “Labor Glory” will be organized on the territory of the reserve-museum. 35 banners will tell stories of people who have contributed to the development of industry, agriculture, and other areas, said S. Konovalova. In addition to events within the framework of the WorldSkills cultural program, the Kremlin will host the final concert of the XIII International Festival of Improvisational Music “JAZZ in the Kremlin with Olga Skepner” on August 22 and the traditional tourist theatrical performance “Mom, I am in Kazan” on August 24.
The theaters of the city also prepared their programs. From 19 to 31 of August, 10 performances will be shown at the Tatar State Academic Theater named after G. Kamal, said Ilfir Yakupov, the director of the theater. Emphasis will be placed on the works of Tatar classics. “We already have experience working with a foreign audience. We have been hosting guests from other countries for several years and have simultaneous translation into English”, he said.
The action “Polite Spectator” will be in effect in the theater. Visitors should say hello to the cashier in any language. Each word “hello” gives a 5% discount. The most polite viewers will be able to get a discount of up to 50%.
On August 22 and 27 from 11 am to 3 pm, master classes will be held on theatrical working professions (make-up artist, props and seamstresses) in front of the Kamal Theater.
On August 23, a video recording of one of the performances of the Kamal Theater will be shown on the embankment of Kaban Lake. A literary and musical evening with the participation of theater artists will be held there on August 25.
Within the framework of the WorldSkills cultural program, Kazan Academic Russian Bolshoi Drama Theater named after V. Kachalov will show performances on Russian classical works: “The Queen of Spades”, “The Cherry Orchard”, “The Marriage”, as well as the musical program “When the Lights Turn on”. This was told by Alexander Slavutsky, the artistic director of the theater. Simultaneous translation into English will be available to foreign viewers.
