Kazan citizens will see the illusion of movement and learn about the “magic lantern”

More than 300 animation and optical toys of the XIX-XX centuries will be presented at the exhibition at the center “Hermitage-Kazan”.

(KZN.RU, March 20). The Center “Hermitage-Kazan” will present one of the largest collections of animation and optical toys in Russia. The exhibition opens secret of the cinema and animation invention. In total, citizens will see more than 300 animation and optical toys of the XIX-XX centuries.

Many exhibits brought from the United States, England, and France. For example, the praxinoscope is an optical device for the demonstration of moving pictures, invented by Emile Renault, the father of animation. Another unique exhibit is the factory film of the famous ancestors of the cinema of the Lumiere brothers. Visitors will also be surprised by toy cinema, stereoscopes for displaying 3D images, toys with an optical illusion.

The main feature of the exhibition is a unique opportunity to test 20 interactive exhibits in action. With their help, it will be possible to see the illusion of movement and animation. Also, you can understand how the mysterious device “magic lantern” works or what device is called “sight deceiver” and why a mirror is necessary for its work.

Everyone can take part in master classes and lectures on animation history, to be a creator of their own toys, as well as learn several types of animation.

The exhibition will run until June 2, reports the Center “Hermitage-Kazan”.
