Kazan citizens are invited to the “Smena” to a lecture “A Tram and the Sea”

Local historian Alexey Klochkov will talk about the construction of the defensive structures of the Kuibyshev hydroelectric complex in the 1940s-1950s.

(KZN.RU, September 25). On September 27, Alexey Klochkov, the local historian, writer, and author of the book “Kazan from the Tram Windows”, will give a lecture “A Tram and the Sea” in Kazan in the Center for Contemporary Culture “Smena”.

At the lecture, A. Klochkov will present one of the main parts of the book, “A Tram and the Sea”. It tells about the construction of the defensive structures of the Kuibyshev hydroelectric complex in the 1940s-1950s, which radically changed the face of the city.

Those who came to the lecture will learn the details of the construction and operation of port facilities near and far estuary, the development of the Admiralteiskaya and Yagodnaya Sloboda in the early Soviet period, the transformation of the old port in the Admiralteiskaya Sloboda into an industrial zone, the secret of the loss of the legendary galley “Tver”, and much more.

The lecture will begin at 7.30 pm. The entrance is free, reports the CCC “Smena”.
