Citizens of Kazan will be able to participate in the contest for best Sabantuy towel

<p> (KZN.RU, June 7). The competition for the best Sabantuy towel is organized by the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts’ administration of Kazan. The most beautiful ones will be shown at the Sabantuy museum on June 23 on the Lebyazhie lake territory. </p> <p> The towel gathering is a ceremony that is held by the Tatar people before the Sabantuy. In the olden days, the young women and girls had been embroidering the patterns on towels for a year. The towels were presented to the batyrs and attached to the horse saddles. The embroidered towels were intended for the best batyr: presenting the girl was making the dearest wish. </p> <p> «Today the towels of Tatar embroidery are likely to be stored in the families as a memory of the ancestors who created those towels. But there are such families as well which so far embroider the towels for the holiday», - as the press-service of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts’ administration of Kazan explained. </p> <p> To participate in the competition it is necessary to post a photo of the towel embroidered by the hands on Instagram with the #КазанскоеПолотенце hashtag and tell the story about its creation. The best towels will be shown at the Sabantuy museum on June 23 on the Lebyazhie lake territory. </p> <p> This year the Sabantuy will be held on June 23 in Kazan at four places: the Berezovaya Roscha of the Mirny settlement, the Derbyshki settlement, on the Lebyazhie lake territory, as well as at the Kazan Hippodrome. </p>
